Rob recently met Amy E. Matarese who is a New Zealand holistic healthcare provider. She’s worked in this field for 20 years and is now growing her charity to incorporate and help people with brain injuries and trauma.
She’s also learning how to work with surprise (bone) impact injuries and concussions and wants to get more support behind post concussion syndrome. She works in a holistic manner so no stone is left unturned.
Amy is also keen to work with Rob and MEND in a more charitable manner. So we’ll keep in touch with her.
Knock Knock – Progressing with Brain Injuries
She’s now started a Facebook Page for Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI).

“Worldwide there is a silent epidemic and it’s the leading cause of disability worldwide (World Health Organisation). It’s called Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI).
Of all types of injury possible, those to the brain are among the most likely to result in death or permanent disability. As well, it is also the leading cause of seizure disorder.
From within this whirlwind of physical, cognitive, behavioral and emotional impairments that can be temporary or permanent and cause more acute or chronic illness at each turn, we at Knock Knock make it our purpose to be the calm after the storm.
Knock Knock is a resource network that offers insight and support for those living within the ever changing terrain experienced during brain trauma. Most of all we are a community creating anew.
Please send anyone experiencing Traumatic Brain Injuries our way; knowing there is support and possible solutions can often give a little light where there is at times confusion.
Welcome to Knock Knock…where being our best amid the rugged terrain of TBIs’ gets a little easier together.”

Amy wrote a really lovely testimonial for MEND today:
“Hello Friends, for ones that are differently abled and in need to be more mobile, independent and trained in skills so they can live in their communities with dignity…MEND is rocking it. We had the honor to speak with Founder Rob Buchanan the other day and his charity truly is shifting the landscape for ones with these challenges not only physically with rehab and medical services yet offering them skills training to thrive in their communities, a holistic concept which is rare.”
