Jinja Fashion

Welcome to Jinja Fashion in Uganda, Victoria – Creative Director and Sewer Extraordinaire.

MEND initially met Victoria when she needed a hearing aid. She is deaf and also suffers from malaria, so we helped her with her medical needs. As part of MEND’s mission, we also asked her what she wanted to do with her life.

She was keen to start her own fashion business so together we found business premises and supplied her with sewing machines, equipment, and funds to buy fabric.

Victoria has access to a vibrant and colourful range of fabric, and with her artistic flair, she creates a beautiful range of homewares and fashion.

The range includes aprons, hats, pants, skirts, ovenware, a variety of bags, and pouches.

Jinja Fashion is successfully selling in the UK through online and social media outlets run by our volunteer, Elsa.

In New Zealand’s summer months, we have a Jinja Fashion stall in the popular Kerikeri Market in the Bay of Islands.
